5Great binoculars for the price  Jul 04, 2008
By C. Chen
I purchased these binoculars for my wife in April 2008 after reading reviews in the following Web sites.

http://www.binoculars.com Alpen PRO 8x25
http://www.amazon.com Alpen PRO 10x25

They are pretty clear with the 430ft @ 1000 yards wide angle lens. The views are bright enough for the small 25mm object lens. My wife and I both like them for theater and outdoor.

I also purchased Pentax UCF II 8-16x21 Zoom Binoculars two weeks after buying the Alpen. My wife likes the Alpen better because the Alpen has sharper and brighter views than the Pentax. She does not get too dizzy by watching through the Alpen binoculars.

5Great for football  Dec 31, 2009
By Computer dad
I bought these to use at NFL games, and I am very satisfied. I have only used them a couple of times so far, but they are working out great.

They are small enough to fit in my pocket, a big plus. The included case is a good fit, and does not add much size at all. I don't think the case would add much protection if you dropped the binoculars, but will protect the lenses if you carry them in your pocket like I do.

The image is clear. The viewing angle is excellent - allowing for watching the entire offensive line area, or pocket at once even at short distances. I find the focus easy to adjust on the move allowing for following plays down field and quickly looking from the playing field to the bench areas.

I have used them at day and night games. So far the lowest temperature was about 15, and I experienced no fogging or clouding in the lenses.

I love the color, the compact form, and the contoured body which allows for a sure one-handed grip. They also seem very rugged.

If you want binoculars for spectator sports I think these are an excellent choice.

5great binoculars  Oct 29, 2010
By Laura
I'm so glad to have finally replaced my 30 year old pair with these to use for birding and other general uses. They're small and lightweight enough to carry for hours, and are a snap to quickly adjust. Mine are always out on my kitchen counter for quick closeups of birds at my feeders. I love them so much that I purchased a second set as a gift for relatives who attend frequent concerts. Highly recommended by me.

4nice compact binoculars  Aug 25, 2011
By mabmouse
Good compact binoculars. Other reviews have been very informative about the optics, but I haven't seen anything online giving the exact size (which I really wanted to know before buying!). The dimensions Amazon gives are the size of the box, not the actual product. The binoculars themselves are (fully folded) 4.25" wide, 3.75" long, 2.5" thick.

I'd give them five stars if the eye relief were longer (I wear glasses), although they're better than the other compact binoculars I was considering.

4Good binocular to watch concert and other events  Oct 22, 2009
By Shaoxian Yang "cyang"
I used this binocular to watch concert or shows. It is compact and easy of use. So far, it is be quite useful. The only thing that is not perfect is the light. it is not bright enough when the stage is very dark. However, you can still see clearly, it is just after a while your eyes feel streneous. But i guess it has to do with how big the lens is. That is a decision you made when you chose binocular. Remeber this binocular bears compact design. if lens are bigger, it won't be compact.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
