5Awesome  Jan 23, 2008
By GIndjeian "gindjeian"
After Shawn Lane's death, things became a little bit cumbersome for Jonas. This is a clear departure from the sound that they jointly created, a very nice way to say goodbye to good old Shawn. As the title very well states, this is ART Metal in full extension. The group format includes Selvaganesh, but as humble as his instrument can be, sometimes he leads the group to very intrincated rithms in which Mathias and Hellborg manage to elaborate incredible solos... The easiness of the playing is remarkable, so is the very tight interplay between all. Jonas has definitely matured beyond belief and bring us an outstanding, never ending surprising record that is as artsy as it gets: this is metal, but with EXTREMELY good taste.

5Progre- Fusio- Indi- Experimen- Does not matter = AWESOME!  Oct 07, 2010
By A. Silber "Billy-Bob"
If not One of... The best CD I have purchased this year. One probably needs an open mind when going into this. A friend of mine stated that it is too, "out there" for him. Not the case for myself.

Each musician puts forth some amazing listening. Yet it is also a matter of the sum is greater than the parts independently. In other words some mind blowing jamming. The Johansson brothers (Anders on drums and Jens on keys) deserve as much recognition as possible. Mattias IA Eklundh also gives us great work on the guitar. Selvaganesh plays the kanjeera. I believe this is the additional percussion. While this is not jaw dropping, it is a key element of the feel of the music. He whom the CD is being sold for, Jonas Hellborg, is simply amazing (on bass).

Other projects of Jonas Hellborg's have too much of an improvised feel for me. Again... Not the case (with this). Well structured.

Highly recommended!

This has quickly become one of my all-time favorite albums. I hope this lineup continues to release music like this. I can't for the life of me pry this album away from my CD player.

5Hellborg carries on without Lane  Mar 26, 2008
By J. Russell
Since the early eighties, when Hellborg first appeared playing for Mahavishnu, he has continued to impress not with just his technical virtuosity but with his compositional skills as well. Although Lanes passing is continually felt in his more recent releases (Kali's Son and now Art Metal as well) this is still an excellent album that continues Hellborgs recent interest in Indian Music while adding an interesting Rock/Metal touch to the proceedings. Eklundh's playing is fantastic and his more Zappa inspired melodic sensibilities work better with Hellborg's playing then I would have thought. Anyone interested in music that spans the globe with virtuosity to spare should definitely pick this up.

Other Hellborg Albums to Listen for include

1/ Temporal Analogues of Paradies
2/ Icon
3/ Ars Moriende

...to name a few.

To give an example Hellborg's recent music is similar to Shakti (Steve Vai.. What!! not even close, although him and Hellborg did play together briefly on a P.I.L. album in the mid eighties.), but with a much more experimental/metal edge and more attention payed to song structure rather then jams... although there are Jams a-plenty. Pick up Art Metal and more Hellborg albums, you won't be let down.

5Ple-e-e-e-ase listen to  Feb 08, 2008
By Volodymyr Radchenko
Probably the best Hellborg work. If you used to listen Hellborg - buy it, if you like to listen to bass technique - buy it, if you like to hear how bass should sound - buy it. Man is almost, 50 but as fresh as very few bass players around. I have received CD month ago and only yesterday finally forced myself to remove it from my car CD changer. Trach # 8 just knocked my brains out.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
