1Not entirely safe  Apr 29, 2008
By R. Slammon
The tubing that forms the base of the bouncer fits into plastic oval mounts and are secured by metal pins. The pins, made out of cheap stamped metal, are folded to create a spring. The problem is that these pins break very easily along the crease where they are folded, and once they break, the base can collapse. One day while my two month old son was in the bouncer, one of the tubes slipped out of the mount (two pins were broken) and the bouncer lurched forward. Luckily I was close by and held on to the seat, preventing my son from falling out. The manual said to call Kids II, the maker of the chair, for customer service. I called, left a message and received no reply. I called Boppy's customer service several times and each time left a message and, again, no reply. I emailed customer service at Boppy and once again received no response.

5Lifesaver!  May 17, 2007
By Diane K. Field "dianegarber"
My month old has loved this bouncer since birth and it has saved us many times! There are nights where its impossible to put him back down to sleep in the wee hours, so I put him in his bouncer and it works every time. He has also grown to be a bit colicky, and during fussy times a few minutes w/the vibration feature and heartbeat sound on works wonders. This is the only item that he actually enjoys being in, and spends any amount of time in. I wish I had one for every room b/c it is a pain to move...but I'd be crazy if I had to live w/out it.

5Fantastic item  Aug 21, 2007
By Kay
I received this as a gift and would highly recommend it for newborns. It's definitely more about comforting than entertaining. The fabric is very soft and the seat is very deep and enveloping compared to most bouncers. It does bounce if baby gets energetic, but not on its own, however you can bounce it gently yourself with very little effort. It has a volume control for the music (soothing melodies) and sound effects (rain, water and something which sounds like a heartbeat) and a gentle vibration feature. The structure seems very stable and I can't imagine it could tip easily, if at all. I have mostly used it for my little one to nap in during the day (never unattended). The heartbeat sound particularly seems very soothing for her and she's able to snuggle down in the seat like she would in my arms. It allows me to put her down somewhere comforting for an hour and keep an eye on her so I can get a few things done, or sit down for a minute. I do wish the sound would go on a little longer - it shuts off after about ten minutes to save battery power - but other than that I wouldn't change a thing.

Edited 3/3/2008 to add: My daughter is now 7 months old and we still use this every day. She doesn't sleep in it any more but uses it like a chair (it has two settings, reclining and upright). It has enough room for a few toys of her own, and she recently discovered the toy bar and loves the little bug, which she can now pull off with a bit of work. Now she's older she enjoys the music though we still use the heartbeat sound for background if she's having trouble dozing off for her nap. Also, in 7 months we have NEVER had to change the batteries. This bouncer really has been great and I'll be very sad when she grows out of it.

4Babies Love them - Parents may Struggle with Assembly  Jun 14, 2009
By Charles Evans "Call me Kevin"
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2WI4VC2W9ERO5 Including my wife and I there are three families using the "Cradle in Comfort" and all of the babies love their "Boppy". It offers a gentle vibration, soft and soothing music, and a soft texture. While it is overly light it can be moved without too much effort.

Other reviewers have mentioned the construction - while i disagree about it being a safety issue I will say it can be a pain to assemble. The problem is that poor quality control (in my opinion) makes assembly much difficult than necessary than needed- pieces do not fit together as designed which causes frustration on the part of the assembler! This cost the "Cradle in Comfort" one star.

Final Verdict -

Babies will love them ... and parents will too once it is assembled!

5Love it!  Oct 26, 2007
By HMM
I bought this bouncer a few days after we brought my son home from the hospital, because I wanted somewhere else to put him down besides the pack'n play. He's 5 months old now and he's sat in it everyday since we got it. I liked it because it's nesty, and when he was very little it cradled him and he seemed able to snuggle down in the seat. It also has a nice wide base, so although it's springy, it's not going to tip over easily. The fabric is machine washable, and the fuzzy part stays soft even after you wash it. My son doesn't really care about the sounds or vibrations, and after two months he didn't care about the toys either (in fact, we've taken the toy bar off completely), but it gives him another view of the world and he likes to sit and watch the dog walk by.
***Update: I am still very happy with this bouncer, however I would like to point out that it does not come apart for storage. Once you put it together it stays that way. If space is an issue for you, this might not be the best choice.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
