5Top Notch  Mar 17, 2008
By Alexandria™ "The Fabulous"
This really is the best of the best when it comes to loose powder. It has a super-fine texture and never looks cakey. It does a fantastic job at combatting shine and keeping your make up looking fresh. It does not clog pores at all and it really does extend the life of your makeup throughout the day.

I really like the translucent shade because, unlike most powders out there, it really is translucent. It doesn't give your face a whiter look . . . it really is virtually invisible.

The coolest part about this is that you get A LOT of powder for your money, so it's well worth it.

This powder gives your face a beautiful, natural finish. It lets your complexion shine through and keeps oils at bay.

A very excellent buy!

5Works for ALL skin tones- light, fair, tan, dark or black!  Sep 20, 2007
By New Mom in NJ
i tried this product (the translucent shade) during my lunch hour- i was so impressed and went back to buy it after work. i am african and i must say this powder works great with my skin tone. i have seriously oily skin and by the time i get to work, i am 'shining' in an unappealing manner, so other than blotting my face with a napkin (i refuse to spend money on paper blotters- total rip-off), i needed real help.
this powder does the trick, its not cakey, greasy or dry...its truly fine and light. i use it over my m.a.c sheer powder. i'd give it 10 stars if i could...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

5A make-up must have  Nov 03, 2004
By Mitchmae
I have a normal to oily skin type and this setting powder works wonders for me. With this powder, make-up stays a little longer. The powder is really light and does not leave a caked on feeling on my face; also no fragrance. Not inexpensive but for me it is worth its price.

it is a make up must have and it really changes the way skin looks and feels. it is so soft and fine that you won't even feel it on your face but it will change the way you look forever.

5THE BEST POWDER I HAVE EVER USED!!!!  Feb 10, 2008
By C. Morgan "sweet_hart"
Because all the other reviews have described this powder beautifully, I will just say that you should definitely get the Velour Puff. I have always used a brush for my powder so it took some time to get use to using the puff. What I have learned from Laura Mercier products is that you MUST apply them as directed for the best result. Put some powder in the lid, dab the puff, then fold the puff and scrunch it a few times. Then dab with a rocking motion. It takes a bit more time but it really is amazing. If you get the foundation, always apply with a sponge; never use a brush or your fingers. The Laura Mercier sponges are also better than any that I have tried. They are egg shaped and they feel amazing. You can throw both the sponges and the puff in the wash machine so they can last forever! I am a new fan of Laura Mercier products and so far have not been disappointed. I also love the eye basic and wrote a review on that as well. I am going to try the foundation primer and the flawless fix pencil next.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
