5Great Table  Apr 19, 2005
By Earl William Jochim "BJ Jochim"
I've had one of these tables for a couple of years. The size is ideal. The height adjustment is molded into the underside of the top. Snap one end of the sissor leg into the slot (the height is marked next to the slot) and you're good to go. Heights are convenient from putting things close to eye level while sitting or being able to get on top of the work in a lower position. Great for laptops, reading, eating... well you name it. Getting one for my daughter who steals mine (portable, light weight and easy to move) and for grandma who likes to eat her meals in the TV room. My son at college loves his too. College kids need to stay portable and this is a great tool. I rave about few things. I think this product deserves it. Make sure you get the 30x20 model. There's a slightly smaller one I do not like as well.

5Wonderful table  Aug 13, 2005
By G. Reed "webdepgal"
Bought one of these at a warehouse store grand opening and wished only days later that I'd purchased two or three more. Adjustable height makes it ideal--you can use it comfortably with a folding chair, sitting on the sofa or poolside in a deck chair. The 30X20 size is large enough for use as a laptop desk and crafters will find the table large enough to have supplies handy and still have room to work. The table is sturdy enough that I even used it for my Bernina embroidery machine while my sewing room was under construction. Ideal for crafting moms who need to keep an eye on the kiddies while they're crafting or scrapbooking.

5Useful, Sturdy Table  Aug 03, 2006
By Virginia Allain "(retired librarian)"
I have the slightly smaller version of this table (top 26" x 18"). They both have the X leg formation and fold flat nicely for storage.

I use mine for my laptop in the motorhome and it has space for that and the mouse pad too. It can be trusted not to collapse or wobble which wasn't the case with a small stand I had before. It sits very firmly on its feet. It's lightweight and slender for storing which is important in an RV.

5The good one. Easy setup. Beware of cheapo imitations  Nov 11, 2006
By Reader
This is the good one - due to ease of setup and more height adjustments.

I have a cheapo imitation from an office supply chainstore. That one is very hard to set up - you have to force a metal tube into two crude slots molded into the underside of the tabletop. The imitation also has only two height settings. Quite a wrestling match to take down or set up - takes a *lot* of force and you can't do it in a confined space.

This Lifetime table is much easier to set up and adjust:

* You squeeze a plastic trigger to telescope the tube - and then release the trigger to snap the tube into holes in the two steel angles that reinforce the bottom of the table. Takes a little fiddling, but doesn't require much force and can be done in a tight space.

* It has four height settings - 21", 24", 26", and 28"

* Height is much easier to change once the table is up. You can reach under, squeeze the trigger, and move the telescoping tube to another pair of holes.

I have no idea why the product description doesn't mention these features.

Beware, elsewhere on Amazon there are other tables that may or may not be this same item.

4Handy little table  Oct 20, 2007
By L. Knights "jinx_tv"
I purchased this table to put my sewing machine on, and I've decided I need something bigger, maybe an actual sewing machine cabinet, but overall this is a pretty nifty thing to have.

Pros: folds up nice and small for storage, pretty sturdy for what it is, adjustable height.

Cons: a little tough to snap into place, not exactly elegant looking, you probably shouldn't set anything hot on the surface

Overall: I think it was a good purchase

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
