5SO much fun!  Apr 21, 2003

My son received this swing as a gift from my parents when he was seven months old. He had loved his infant swing since birth, and they wanted him to have something to play with outside. We didn't get to use the swing much at first, but when he was just over eight months old the weather finally warmed up and I sent my husband outdoors to hang the swing.

Here are our favorite features of the swing:

-No lap belts to mess with. This doesn't compromise the safety of the swing; the over-the-head apparatus secures them just like a three-point car seat harness would.

-The restraint can be stored under the swing when your child is too big for it, thus making this a toddler swing. A great transition! And when you want to convert it back to an infant swing for a new sibling or a guest, you aren't searching high and low for the restraint that you removed years ago.

-Easy to get in and out. There is no bar sliding back down the ropes and pinching fingers and bumping heads like the Fisher Price version. The restraint flips over the back of the swing when you are done and is very easy to secure when you are loading baby in the swing.

-Installation was easy. This is pretty much the case for any swing. The most difficult thing for us was getting it to hang level from the tree, but any swing is about the same in this area.

-Drain holes. Thank goodness for those! When it rains the swing doesn't fill with water that will sit in it until your baby decides its time for a swing, at which time you will have to wash the now brown water out. You take this for granted, but my friend has a Step 2 Caterpillar swing that collects some very gross looking things!

All in all, a swing is a swing! But this particular swing has many nice features, is comfortable for a baby and a toddler and is very reasonably priced. Even us first time parents feel safe with our baby in this swing!

i bought this swing for my 20 month old daughter, she loves it. it is very durable, and it will grow with her. it has more room than the other one we had. the only complaint i have is that the ropes need to be longer.

1Design Forces Kids to Sit Slouched and Slumped Over:-(  Jun 30, 2005
By Maciels
Please read through reviews on the 2nd and 3rd pages - lots of people have complained about the slouch (too bad I noticed these reviews AFTER we purchased the swing:-(

We bought this swing, set it up, threw out the box, and then realized a couple of days later that the slanted back with the straps forces kids' bodies downwards and they have no way of pushing themselves back up. How irritating, right?...especially since the box is gone! Our son doesn't complain about anything "hurting," but then again, he doesn't seem to want to stay in it for very long (and he looooves swinging). It does seem to fit my 16 mo. old (about 30 lbs.) well. In fact, it is just his size. I know parents have had problems with some of these toddler swings being the size of infant swings - just something to watch for as you read reviews. A couple of other things about this swing that are annoying: The rope is really, really short and we couldn't find one tree branch in the front or back low enough to use. We ended up having to purchase extra rope and chain, just something else for you to consider. Also, it comes affixed with 2 unremovable hooks for hanging without instructions. I am really disappointed with this swing over all, especially since it is a more expensive model and we still had to spend more money after buying it!

5Great swing!  Oct 31, 2005
By Samuel Dylan Hrncir
We bought this swing to put on our swing set for our 10 month old. He fits in it perfectly (he weighs about 25 lbs) and his 3 year old brother fits in it as well (but he is big enough for the regular swings). The swing is the perfect height for a premade swing set. At first I thought it was a little high, but then I figured out that it's high so that parents don't have to lean down to push. I'm 5' 7" and it's a great height for me. But if you are trying to hang it from a tree, you will probably need extra rope.

It swings level on the swingset. The only thing I have noticed is the slouching problem, but it's not that bad with our son, just a little slouching. He doesn't find it uncomfortable (in fact he has fallen asleep in it 2 times in 3 days).

A GREAT feature of this one is that the front plate swings underneath and snaps there for when you don't want to use it anymore! I have so many things that I have to search for pieces for when I need it for another child...I just love self contained baby items!

There are no problems getting him in and out of this one when he is awake or sleeping as the front plate swings out of the way.

5GOOD CHEAP FUN!  Dec 05, 2005
By ProudMomOfBoys
Both my sons loved this swing. Simple and basic, but safe and fun. The buttons to release the safety harness are a little hard to undo for someone inexperienced. I'd buy it again, though.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
