5INTERACTIVE LEARNING FOR YOUR BABY  Sep 14, 2004
By Rumiwon
***NOTE: THIS IS AN UPDATED REVIEW.

I guess that's why this is called the "Learning Seat" as opposed to a traditional bouncer. It doesn't really bounce. Not like the bouncers you may be accustomed to anyway. It has various speeds of vibrations, and a very interactive activity bar.

The sound level is very soft, even at the high setting. I just figured out why that is. I put my face next to my baby's face while she was sitting in the bouncer and found the sound level of the music to be just right. Not so loud that it'll make her ears ring. The sound level is intended for baby's listening, 6 inches away, not the adults, who are standing 3 feet away. Good thinking, LeapFrog--don't want this generation to have to get hearing aids prematurely! Also, the voice, sounds, and music are very pleasant to listen to. Not harsh and irritating like on some other bouncers. There are 3 settings for the interactive bar. All promote learning, and have lots of different sayings and songs. The flashing light gives just enough stimulation but not over the top to make baby bleary-eyed. When baby bats at the 3 dangling toys, she gets rewarded with sound, lights, and music displayed in the mirror. Pretty neat function, gotta see it to appreciate.

The vibrations are weak, at best. But again, I put my hand on the seat and found it to be just right for baby sitting in the seat. Not too strong that it makes her head spin. It's not me who needs to be vibrated after all...

It's very sturdy, and the activity bar removes easily when not in use, or when you need to remove it quickly to take baby in and out with one hand.

To be honest, my 17 month old twins have more fun with this chair than their newborn sister does. The twins are under 25 pounds so the seat supports them, even when they are both fighting to sit on it at the same time. They really like the interactive bar and the kickplate on the seat bottom that activates the sound and lights on the activity bar. I know this is not for them at all to use, but they get to it when baby is not in it.

So far, this bouncer-learning seat is doing its job. LeapFrog continues to impress me.

5New Mommy to Matthew  Sep 19, 2004
By Mandy
I bought this seat as a last resort for my 2 1/2 month baby because he didn't seem to like any of the other ones. Putting the seat together was easy and quick. The directions were very easy to follow. I put my son in the seat and he became very excited. Now every time I take him out of it he starts to cry. The voice that speaks and sings is very soothing. The volume is not very loud but I think it is perfect for his little ears. He loves the hanging animals and very quickly learned to knock them to make the mirror light up.

I know not every kid is the same but my son seems to enjoy it.

5BEST OUT THERE! Even better than Kick N Play!  Feb 07, 2005
By Mom2Ashlynn
I have both the kick and play and this and I found this to be MUCH better. Here is why:

1. the fabric is SO much softer

2. the music is much more entertainig and not annoying. Also the music isnt so loud like the K n P

3. There is 3 vibration modes, unlike the 1 with the K n P. Also, the vibraion turns off after awhile as to not wear out the battery. Also, the vibration is MUCH quieter with this one.

4. The base seems much more sturdy.

5. The mirror is much larger and the lights are more entertaining.

6. There is many different modes for interaction, unlike the KnP which only has 2 options.

As you can see I REALLY love this and so does my 1 month old daughter. You just cant go wrong with this purchase! I save $10 and bought it at Target ($39.99).

5My Little Girl LOVES This!!!!!!!!  Sep 21, 2004
By New Mommy "Sammi"
After being disappointed over our purchase of the Ocean Wonders Portable Swing, my husband and I finally decided to purchase this seat.....and I am very happy we did.

It took a while to decide to buy it because of the price and having just spent so much on the swing which my daughter gets bored with in just minutes....but after doing so I was so happy to see her face light up.

The toys on this seat are easy for her to reach, but the seat is reclined enough so that I don't have to worry about her tipping forwards. And the top is easy to remove, which makes it easy to get her in an out which is always a plus.

One of the things I like the most about this is that the toys are easy for her to pull and acivate. They will actually work if she just hits them with her hands instead of having to pull on them.

The music doesn't sound very loud until you put your head down next to the baby....then it's just perfect. And when it's set to rhyming mode she thinks they are talking to her and smiles up a storm.

So glad we bought it.

5Parent Lifesaver  Feb 04, 2005
By Mom of 3 "Mom"
I absolutley love this product; our 2 month old loves it the seat is big and the base is sturdy. It is a little more expensive than others out there but well worth the money. I like that you can easily take off the toy bar to remove and put in the baby. The sound it just right for the baby and so is the vibration. I have 2 other children and have had other bouncers but I definetly would recommend this one over the others.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
