5After the Flood  Feb 14, 2007
By Charla Baker "cbmiddleburg"
This was agreat puzzle. My children and I spend several hours at night working on puzzles. It's a great family time project, besides it makes them have to use their brians, matching up colors or looking for the right puzzle piece. Even my 15 year old gets in on the fun. This puzzle was so pretty when we finished it we decided to frame it and hang it in my daughter's room. Thank you Melissa and Doug, and Amaazon for carrying their products.

I have been a puzzle person since childhood. I will say this is the best puzzle I have ever done-hands down. I love the colors, the puzzle pieces and the overall concept. I would recommend them to anyone.

5Beautiful and Fun Puzzle, Loved it!!  Mar 06, 2010
By Sammyegail "SamanthaMc"
As another reviewer said, I also have been doing puzzles since I was a child with my Dad. I recently purchased 2 Melissa and Doug 500 pieces puzzles to put together and put in my 4 yr old twin boys room. I can't remember the last time I've done a puzzle, but after opening this one and going thru the pieces I was so excited, the colors are so vibrant! I would let my sons help me with it, identifying what was on each piece (an easy one) and let them put it in. I enjoyed putting this together so much, it was done in 3 days! I guess putting puzzles together is like riding a bike, you never forget how to do it. I was very surprised at how fast I finished it, but it was very addictive!

Overall this puzzle is absolutely gorgeous. I think it would be great for a male or female and any age that can do a 500 piece. The only downside was that some of the pieces had the first layer (the actual print) already peeled off on the tabs so I had to glue those back together, so I gave it a 4 star for durability.

Also a HUGE 5 STAR rating for Melissa and Doug, on the other puzzle I ordered the colors were not near as vibrant and the print looked blurred. I called them and they sent me a replacement at no charge, it looked great. Evidently there had been a printing problem with the first. That one was Beneath the Canopy, to be honest this one is much, much better if you are choosing from the two.

5Easy, colorful puzzle with lots of awesome animals  Jan 01, 2011
By Joseph Dewey
Cardboard in this puzzle means, "regular jigsaw puzzle." I guess it's just saying it's not a wooden puzzle.

This is a really cool puzzle, with lots of different animals. I had one piece whose edge tore off by the end, but we were rough with this puzzle and had pieces all over the floor at times. It has pretty good construction, but the true beauty of this puzzle is the great quality of the picture.

It also has a unique cut, and a few pieces that look like edge pieces, but they're really middle pieces, which I liked, to spice things up a bit. And, I kept misreading this as a "floor puzzle," which it's not. It's just a regular-sized table puzzle about a flood.

Pros:
+Relatively easy puzzle because of all of hte different colors
+Very fun because of all of the different animals
+Teaches kids an important lesson because of Noah

Cons:
-A smidgen historically inaccurate, since Noah didn't take dolphins on the ark

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
