Cannot put a price on safety Aug 04, 2009
By Ralvek These pads are worth every penny, imo. The plastic armor on the knee and elbow are "riveted" in place by sturdy metal type material rings. Not cheaply sewn on. Flexibility for both knee and elbow pads are a non-issue. The design is good so that your elbow and knee joints aren't restricted to move.
Knee pad: A great snug fit without the typical, "slide down your leg" effect. The elastic material that wraps around the knees acts like a bandage and gives added support to the knees. A feature I like, since my knees aren't young and as durable anymore.
Elbow pad: Easy on, easy off. Comfortable to wear and it doesn't get tiresome/annoying during long distances of roller blading.
Wrist guards: Plastic formers are stiff and seem well molded to withstand numerous amounts of shock. Fit is great. The backhand plastic mold is almost "invisible" to the feel. The palm plastic mold, wraps around the heel of my hand perfectly. The length is just right where your fingers aren't restricted from bending backwards and forwards.
5 stars, easily!

ProTec Street Pads Apr 19, 2009
By Lindsay J. Wheeler

This product is worth every cent. After purchasing these pads, I didn't really use the knee pads (because I'm weird), but the wrist guards are awesome, the elbow pads worked great, and for the small amount of time that I wore the knee pads, they were good too. I felt invincible. Take the money to buy these pads, whatever sport, they're great!

saved my wrist and elbow this morning Sep 10, 2009
By Skyweb If you are learning to roller blade get these, worth the price and they do work. Took a couple nasty spills this morning and I would have had either a broken wrist or a badly sprained one. I got these becasue my wife said I needed to if I was going to learn to blade at my age. I am glad I did. 50 bucks is a cheap price to stay out of the hospital. I got up and just kept on going marveling at how hard I hit the concrete and the pads looked unfazed. I did practice falling in them first so that probably helped. Regardless, if you are the slightest bit energetic or aggressive when learning a sport where your body and other surfaces like concrete etc are going to share space, you would be crazy not to get these. I looked at several others in the stores, bought these on the internet and am glad I didn't buy the ones I looked at for around 35 bucks in the bike store. Those were merely padded not hard shelled plastic and I still would have thrashed my wrist this morning with them. These were like I was indistructable. They gave me confidence to get out of my comfort zone and protected me while I did so. Only reason I am not rating them a 5 is because you have to fool with them over your clothing to get the fit right a couple times. Once you do finally get them adjusted, they stay adjusted and are well worth it. Could be I haven't used them enough too.
Very good pad set Jun 18, 2011
By Brian This is a very good set of pads for rollerskating, rollerblading, skateboarding, and other various activities. I ordered a pair for myself and a pair for my wife for the purpose of rollerblading, and they do an excellent job of protecting our knees, our elbows, and our wrists.
I am slightly bigger, more muscular, but also fatter than an average guy (5'11" 220-225lbs) and one of the only complaints that I have about this set is the sizing. I was very meticulous about measuring to ensure that I got the right size, and although the wrist pads and elbow pads fit pretty well, the knee pads were quite snug. I do realize that they are supposed to be relatively snug, but they are pretty difficult to even slide on, in my case, and it leaves a very noticeable mark on my knees from the squeezing after 30 minutes or more. I ordered the XL size set for myself, and despite having pretty large thighs and calves (hockey player), I still expected the XL knee pads to fit appropriately because my measurements still fell inside its listed size range in the guide.
Besides the fit issue that I had with the knee pads, I am very happy with the set and my wife had absolutely zero complaints about the set. It gave her all of the confidence she needed to start trying to skate harder and faster. She told me that falling doesn't bother her much at all because the knee pads are so large, comfortable, and protective, and she's glad to have the wrist pads so she won't break her wrists if she uses them to break her fall.
Although I haven't had any falls/spills yet, I'm sure that I will at some point in time, and with my weight, I could do a lot of serious damage if I don't have good protection so having a solid, high-quality set of pads like this was very important to me.

The
Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design
by Jessica Ackerman
Everyone knows how important
paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to
interior design. One aspect of design that is often
overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only
affects the brightness of the room, but it can also
change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways
that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on
the presentation of art work.
There is no light like
natural light. If you are buying, building or
remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible.
Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the
most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the
position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work
with what you have.
How much natural light do
you get in your room? If the room in question faces
north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you
would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south
get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that
face east will only have good natural light in the
morning hours and western facing rooms will have the
most light during the afternoon.
Once you are familiar
with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be
able to make informed choices about what additional
lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with
little or no natural light will need artificial lighting
- even during the day - in order to look their best.
Here are some types of lighting to consider.
1. Accent Lighting
Accent lighting is
perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a
special piece of furniture or other item. Since light
draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features
in your room that you wish to highlight.
2. Hanging Light Features
Chandeliers and smaller
hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A
trip to the local home improvement store will quickly
show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll
want to select lighting that blends in with your
existing dÃÂécor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a
country themed dining room probably isn't the best
option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may
stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an
eyesore than a lovely accent.
3. Recessed Lighting
Recessed lighting is a
good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout
the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the
existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It
provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space
or interfering with other aspects of the room.
4. Lamps
Using lamps are a way to
add not only additional lighting, but also punches of
color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives
off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as
decoration more than as a light source and give off very
little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give
off quite enough light, consider changing the shade
which will usually solve the problem.
When decorating your
home, remember how important lighting is, and give it
the same thought and attention you give to the other
details of decorating your home.
