5Wish I would have gotten this a long time ago!!  Feb 12, 2007
By Oklahoma Mom
What a great product! I wish they would have come out with it back when my first son was a baby! Our current baby is eight months old, and he is still in his Graco Infant SafeSeat (he has several more months' worth of room to go in it). The SafeSeat fits beautifully in this swing frame. Whenever I get home and my son is asleep in the car seat, I just pop the seat into this frame and turn it on, and he will go right back to sleep and stay asleep for a long time. Or if he is napping in the swing and I need to go out to run an errand, he stays asleep because I don't have to move him out of the swing into a car seat. Wonderful!

This is the only swing we have, and I find that it is the only one we need. As a plus, the swing frame folds up compactly and travels very well. The only complaints I have are: 1.) The swing motor is a little loud, and 2.) I have to run the swing on the highest speed to keep it swinging, since my son is getting a bit heavy. But overall, this is a brilliant and much-needed baby item!

4Excellent product, minor complaints  Jul 13, 2007
By Gail E
We bought this because we saw it as a great way to eliminate 1 piece of baby clutter by combining the baby swing with car seat storage. It is a fantastic product that makes my life easier and is well worth the money. When I know I need to do errands and my daughter is due for a nap, I put her to sleep in the car seat in the swing and then we're good to go whenever. So far, she is young enough to stay sleeping when we come home but I can see where it would help later on to keep her sleeping after she falls asleep in the car.

Like the other reviews, my minor complaints are that the controls for the sound and vibrations are very poorly located where you can't see them to operate them. I don't mind this at all because frankly, I find the Graco music boxes (on this swing and our pack-n-play) kind of creepy and I don't use them. The music doesn't have a nice "tinkly" sound like many baby music boxes and instead reminds me a little bit of a "twangy" organ sound like in a creepy movie. The motor is rather noisy but, hey, it doesn't bother my baby and the repetitive clicking sound might even sound something like a heartbeat to her. I think the motor is able to move such a heavy combination of baby and car seat by having a *very* smoothly gliding swing mechanism. I notice that if I put any pressure at all on the swing (like pushing in a pacifier), it can't swing against it. With this type of mechanism, I expect it to last a long time and it really don't go through batteries as fast as I feared it would.

Overall, I highly recommend this product. I only took off 1 star because I feel like the controls could be easily relocated by the manufacturer and because I really dislike that music.

5My new favorite baby item...  Mar 27, 2007
By Staring Girl "Staring Girl"
While pregnant with our second son, I was on a mission to find myself a small, lightweight swing that could easily be carried up and down our stars with my bad back and that didn't take up a whole lot of space in our house. With our first son, we had your standard bulky swing and I absolutely hated it because it was just too darn big a bulky. So, while pregnant with our new little one I actually found a small Fisherprice swing that I wanted but when I sent my husband out go buy it, the store didn't have it so he bought this one instead. Boy am I glad he did. This swing has all the features that your standard swing has (vibration setting, music, swooshing water sound, adjustible speed) with the added benefit of holding your infant car seat so you can just carry your baby from the car to this swing. Also, this swing travels very well so you can fold it up and take it to grandma's or where ever. My one concern before using it was that the motor wouldn't be powerful enough to swing a heavy car seat with a baby in it but it actually does very well.

Our son loves this and I love it. This is my new favorite baby item in our house.

2Great concept, poor performance!  Jun 24, 2008
By E. A. Donovan
This is our first baby and I researched everything we even considered buying. I tend to take negative reviews with a grain of salt and was excited about this product. We just received this swing frame as a gift and I put it together right away and tried it out. We have a Graco Snugride carseat and my 7 week old baby is 11 lbs. This product folds up well for travel, which is one of the main reasons we registered for it. The vibration (2 settings) and music/nature sounds work well. You can adjust the speed which is nice. The problem with it is the motor simply cannot keep up. You can hear and see the problem. The motor works hard to keep up and the swing would go faster at times then slow way down - which startled my sleeping baby. It actually kept a more consistent pace before I put the batteries in and just pushed the seat with my son in it. If Graco put a more appropriate sized motor in it, I would definitely recommend this product. Until then, mine is getting returned.

4Good product, needs revamping  May 09, 2007
By Hip Momma
I love the portability of this swing. It comes apart very easily and I was able to fit the main part the car seat sits on in my suitcase without trouble.

One reason I did not give this swing 5 stars was because of the control switches. They are in an inconvenient spot--under where the car seat edge overhangs. Also, I feel that the controls should have been buttons rather than dials/switches. Even though they go off automatically after half an hour, they remain in the ON position. If you want to restart one function the other automatically restarts too, which can be a pain in the butt.

The second reason being that this frame fits the SnugRide and the bigger SafeSeat. The Snugride can be a little wobbly on it since there is extra room. While that is annoying and a bit disconcerting, it's not really a major problem.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
