Strathwood St. Thomas Aluminum 2 Seater Loveseat with Seat Cushion

Strathwood has broadened its handsome collection of cast-aluminum furniture with the St. Thomas ensemble. Durable yet surprisingly lightweight, this loveseat adds a more upscale look to a sun porch, deck, or patio than wooden furniture, and is easier to move around. Able to hold up to 500 pounds, the loveseat measures 46 inches wide by 34 inches deep by 36 inches high. It weighs approximately 28-1/2 pounds. Screw-on glides underneath the loveseat's legs allow some leeway in adjusting for uneven surfaces.

Adding comfort to the seat is a 3-inch-thick cushion upholstered in fabric designed for outdoor use. The light beige cover is made of synthetic woven tweed that repels water and wipes clean, but does not remove for cleaning. Velcro tabs on the back attach the cushion to the chair so it won't slide around or blow off in a strong wind. The tabs are located in the center of the cushion, allowing for easy flipping of the cushion to hide stains or just to rejuvenate it. The cushion measures 20 inches deep by 42 inches wide.

The St. Thomas deep seating collection also includes a choice of armchair styles, a chaise lounge, and a side table with ice bucket. The ensemble features an ornamental scrolling vine motif in a dark-brown finish with bronze highlights and silver flecks. The open scroll provides a smooth, even surface for comfort and allows water to fall through and dry out. This all-weather, easy-care furniture is made from the highest grade of aluminum. It is sand casted, covered in a powder-coat finish, and designed to be rust-free.

Strathwood furniture has quality, ease of use, and casual elegance at its core. Each piece is rigorously tested for durability, and assembly instructions have been standardized for simplicity from start to finish. Strathwood furniture is sleekly designed, handsomely finished, and built to last. This classic style and reliable craftsmanship will weather ever-changing trends and regular use for years to come.

5Beautiful Piece, Great Bargain  Jun 21, 2008
By Kai Bergman "Ski Bunny"
This is an absolutely beautiful piece of outdoor furniture, and at an incredibly reasonable price. Other merchants would charge the same price for just the 5" thick, beautifully upholstered seat cushion. The loveseat arrives fully assembled - just unwrap the plastic and padding, put the cushion on, and sit down! I bought the matching chairs, and they are just as lovely. I will be watching for more furniture items from this company.

3Not as durable as you think  Apr 09, 2010
By Joshua D. Price
I purchased the whole set about a year ago. For the price I paid, I almost wish I had saved it and gotten somethign else. Don't get me wrong...I love the way it looks and holds up. The chairs are very comfortable and the side table/ice chest things are a nice touch. But, I noticed the other day that one of the legs on the bench looked bent, and when I looked at it, it has a crack and there is a good chance it will break soon. This is after the glider/rocker chair broke while my brother and his girlfriend were sitting in it. Keep in mind...no one who has sat on the furniture is "larger" (I think the largest person to sit on my furniture was in the 220 lbs range, and that was only once). Luckily, I know someone who can weld...

5great for the price  Aug 11, 2008
By T. S. Hew
The whole St. Thomas collection is very nice for the price. I was looking for both a dining and seating group and was quite discouraged elsewhere. Other things i looked at were were way out of price range from $5000 to around $10,000 and cheaper groups often didnt have all the pieces i was looking for. So, I ended up buying the whole st. thomas set.
Upsides are:
1. the nice design of the peices
2. very comfortable seating (my husband is 6'5 and was impressed by how comfy the seats were for him, they are kind of on the high side). I especially like the motion chairs.
3. The cushions on all the pieces are really thick and seem well made. The color is off white/light tan and exactly what i was looking for (actually hard to find).
4. Set came with touch up paint if needed
5. You can seat 6 around the dining table. I was worried about this because i wanted a table for 6. From the website i couldnt tell, so at first i only bought 4 chairs. After i got the set I could tell that 6 chairs would fit and bought another 2. I bought the regular dining chairs , not the ones with the round stand, so i cant vouch for those.

The downside is:
1. the welded joints arent as neat as they could have been, although they still seem sturdy,
2. they get really hot in the sun (i had a set before that had a coating that stayed cooler),
3. the cushions leave indents after sitting in them making them look a little rumpled. These indents seem to smooth out again, so far they have not been permanent.

Also, i wish the set had included a stand for the umbrella, a 3 person sofa and an ottoman, but u can't have everything :) The fire pit and ice bucket were nice extras, though.
Basically, it comes down to this. It is a very good set for the price and so far i am quite happy with it.

5Impressive!  Jun 11, 2009
By queenlizbeth "queenlizbeth"
Just received the Strathwood St. Thomas bench today, along with 4 dining chairs, 2 swivel chairs, side table, and dining table. Delivery was prompt and went smoothly. The packaging was so well done, and necessary assembly on some of the items took only minutes, and the tools were provided. The furniture looks as nice or nicer than sets that are so much more expensive. I researched sets thoroughly, and this one wins hands down.

5Comfortable and a great value  Jul 09, 2008
By atlmom
I ordered several items from this collection and have been please with all of them. I love this piece and the curved back and thick cushion make it much more comfortable than your average bench. My only comment is that the cushion cover is not removable for cleaning but I bring the cushions indoors so they are holding up fine.

The Importance Of Lighting In Interior Design

   by Jessica Ackerman

Everyone knows how important paint color, furniture choices and artwork are to interior design. One aspect of design that is often overlooked, however, is lighting. Lighting not only affects the brightness of the room, but it can also change the way a paint color looks, cast shadows in ways that make the room seem smaller and have an impact on the presentation of art work.

There is no light like natural light. If you are buying, building or remodeling, opt for as much natural light as possible. Oversized windows and skylights are two ways to get the most natural light. Of course, not everyone is in the position to be able to do that, so you'll have to work with what you have.

How much natural light do you get in your room? If the room in question faces north, you won't get as much natural sunlight as you would in a southern facing room. Rooms that face south get bright, natural light throughout the day. Rooms that face east will only have good natural light in the morning hours and western facing rooms will have the most light during the afternoon.

Once you are familiar with how much natural light is in each room, you'll be able to make informed choices about what additional lighting may be necessary. Keep in mind that rooms with little or no natural light will need artificial lighting - even during the day - in order to look their best. Here are some types of lighting to consider.

1. Accent Lighting

Accent lighting is perfect when you want to showcase a piece of art or a special piece of furniture or other item. Since light draws the eye, it will bring attention to the features in your room that you wish to highlight.

2. Hanging Light Features

Chandeliers and smaller hanging lamps can be beautiful as well as functional. A trip to the local home improvement store will quickly show you how overwhelming the choices can be. You'll want to select lighting that blends in with your existing décor. For example, a crystal chandelier in a country themed dining room probably isn't the best option. If you don't choose carefully, your lighting may stick out like a sore thumb and become more of an eyesore than a lovely accent.

3. Recessed Lighting

Recessed lighting is a good choice for a room that needs extra light throughout the day. Because the lighting won't interfere with the existing decor, it can work in almost any room. It provides abundant light without taking up a lot of space or interfering with other aspects of the room.

4. Lamps

Using lamps are a way to add not only additional lighting, but also punches of color. If possible, see how much light the lamp gives off before leaving the store. Many lamps serve as decoration more than as a light source and give off very little light. If you love the lamp, but it doesn't give off quite enough light, consider changing the shade which will usually solve the problem.

When decorating your home, remember how important lighting is, and give it the same thought and attention you give to the other details of decorating your home.
