Decorating - Asian Inspired Home Decorating
by Milos Pesic
With gorgeous fabrics, vibrant colors
and rich textures, Asian-inspired home decor captures
the imagination like nothing else. Walking into a room
that has been decorated incorporating the Asia theme is
like walking into a world filled with royal grandeur.
This majestic look comes at a price so be prepared to
pay high decorating bills if this is your choice in home
decor. However, the end result will be well worth the
price you have to pay.
Because Asian home decor relies so
heavily upon rich fabrics and deep, dark colors it may
not always be a good idea to have the whole house done
up in this theme. In fact doing up the entire home in
this theme can be quite overwhelming. Far better to
focus on doing up just one or two rooms using this theme
so that it creates a focal point of interest.
Asian Decor in the Dining Room
The dining room is a good starting
point. Drinking tea is an important part of the Asian
culture. Japanese or Chinese tea pots or tea cups would
fit in very well with the Asian home deco theme. Bamboo
table mats, chopsticks and chopstick holder, all make
great enhancements at any meal setting.
Asian Decor in the Bathroom
Another room that you can
incorporate the Asian look in, is the bathroom. Asian
decor has a lot of relaxing accents, which can be used
in the bathroom and which serve the purpose of washing
away the stresses of the day; think candles, waterproof
calligraphy, figurines and other assorted Asian artwork.
A fountain in the bathroom, even a small one, would tie
in all the Asian decor elements for a look that is
fabulous yet relaxing and soothing. Plenty of storage
room is a must as the Asian look is clean and
uncluttered.
Asian Decor in the Bedroom
However, if you love your dining
room and bathroom look good as they are but you still
want to incorporate the Asian theme in at least one
room, the bedroom is a great choice. Rich highly
embroidered fabrics set off with delicate rice paper
window coverings to give you the necessary privacy,
framed calligraphy or Oriental art and candles
everywhere can transform your bedroom into a romantic
Asian haven. Replace all harsh overhead lights with
indirect lighting and wall scones to give the room a
truly sensuous look. An intricately carved Asian screen
makes a wonderful addition to any Asian bedroom. It
enhances the room with its sheer artistry and is also
functional as it can be used to keep cluttered areas and
piles of clothes hidden away.
While it could take a fair amount
of time and money to incorporate the Asian look into
your home, the stunning end results are definitely worth
it. While shopping for your Asian home decor theme, keep
in mind that it is worth buying the most expensive
fabric you can afford. Cheap Asian fabrics can look
tacky and gaudy and will detract rather than enhance
your overall home decor.

Feng Shui Art and Reading
Tips
by Jiaying Lee
I am always interested in two things
when entering another's home. Firstly the art on their
walls and secondly the books that they have on display.
The art on the wall can be a pointer to our attitude the
to others For instance if you see landscapes peaceful
and beautiful but no people or animals you do get a
little insight into the personality who placed them
there. They are generally people who prefer there own
company and they can be inclined to be introverted.
On the other hand if you see
paintings or prints on the wall that are full of people
and partying or human activity, like the famous Renoir
canvas of a party boat full of young people in
interaction and full of energy, that too gives you some
insight into the person.
Feng Shui is an ancient of the law
of attraction. What you do in your home is always
attracting what you subconsciously want or think your
want. So if you are surrounding yourself with art which
is pleasant but isolated and lonely without people life
then you have unknowingly sent out signals that this is
what your want. You may want more love in your life and
deeper relationships well then choose art which
illustrates this.
For love and relationships let
people art be the dominant statement on the walls of
your house. If you want wealth then have money pictures
hanging on your walls. This is not to suggest you have a
picture of banknotes on your wall but rather to have
pictures of opulence and rich life if you want company
and rich relationships then choose paintings that
illustrate this style such as a castle or Ocean liner or
some famous site in the world.
The power of water to attract
fortune in Feng Shui can be related to your choice of
prints Why not choose a beautiful waterfall artwork
piece on your wall. So just have a think about what is
on your wall and is it attracting what your want and
then make a few changes then see how subtle changes will
begin to take place in your life.
About libraries or books on
display in your home. There can be some deceptions here
for some of us put books on display that are designed to
impress and not to be read. However if your books are
truly the books that you love and read and you have them
on display in your living areas then take note of what
these books are about they will tell you what you are
attracting. Like prints and paintings they draw into
your home energy or block energy.
Books about violent crimes and
awful events are particularly not good to have on
display. They bring a negative energy with them and are
symbolic of violence. This is not about one or two books
it is about a shelf lined with them. These may seem
trivial things but they add up and Feng Shui is about
removing the blocks to the universal energy called
'Chi'. This energy when flowing in balance and harmony
with the home attract all the benefits of luck, wealth,
health and relationships
Most of us have a mix of paintings
and books however it is valuable to ask yourself the
question. What dominates? What is the emphasis of my
collectables and reading? This can tell you what you
attract and if you choose you can create a new and
different energy flow to attract what you really want.

French
Bedroom Furniture
by Ben
Weissman
It's always interesting to follow the
trends worldwide in fashion and design, but if you
really want to know what the newest styles and ideas
are, you should track the developments in Paris. The
French are always fashion forward, and Paris is the
fashion capital of the world, whether you are talking
about clothes or furniture. To be in the know and ahead
of the general public, you have to follow the market in
France. One of the more popular trends in French bedroom
furniture right now is to install a mini bar in the
bedroom, complete with all the accessories and
barstools.
In France, most people are laid
back and unconcerned with many aspects of life, with the
except of style and fashion. Being as hip and trendy as
they are, the French are quite fond of contemporary
bedroom furniture, which is less ornate than many of the
more classic styles of old. In fact, there is little if
any detail work directly applied to the furniture of
choice, and all details are typically added through the
décor and theme design in the room. In fact, this works
out better for them because they can be fickle and
change their style frequently with aspirations of
instant gratification, one thing they do have in common
with Americans.
This is important because it leads
to the decision to use contemporary bar stools and
counters for the bar they are going to build. After all,
it would look a bit ridiculous to have a simple platform
bed with no intricacies matched up with an ornate 18th
century English bar. Instead, the French are quite
careful to make sure their styles match from top to
bottom of a room. If they are going for shabby sheik,
every last detail is refined to give this impression,
for example.
While you can find some
ultramodern styles in metal, most French people prefer
wood bar stools for their bar, as it looks more elegant,
is sturdier, and often matches the rest of their bedroom
décor better. Interestingly, it is often also cheaper,
despite its superior quality to most of the metal
products on the market. Of course, this is all based on
personal taste, and even in France, many will look to be
different from the crowd or seek out that perfect metal
setup that is trustworthy and high quality design.
Perhaps making sure the home bar
matches the master bedroom furniture is the number one
concern of the Frenchmen as they built their little
watering hole. Luckily, that's easy to do, since
barstools come in pretty much all the same wood types as
the beds and accessory furniture on the market. In fact,
those who are especially excited about the mini bar will
design the entire bedroom around this part of the room
rather than vice versa. Watching the French advance in
their designs can definitely provide tips and ideas for
your own home that will be entirely fashion forward just
like the fashion capital of the world!
